The head of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Dr Musa Aliyu (SAN), will discuss cybersecurity and illegal financial movements in Nigeria during his speech at the Realnews 13th Anniversary Lecture in Lagos.

As stated by the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Realnews, Maureen Chigbo, in a statement released on Tuesday, the lecture titled “Cybersecurity, Illicit Financial Flows and Achieving Agenda 2063 in Africa” is set to take place in Lagos on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

She mentioned that Aliyu confirmed his involvement via an email to Realnews in March 2025 and later reconfirmed his presence in a response dated October 31, 2025, saying, “I will attend by God’s grace.”

Designated chairman of the ICPC by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 17, 2023, Aliyu is a legal professional licensed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, having earned the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria on October 12, 2023.

Prior to his role in the ICPC, Aliyu held the positions of Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Jigawa State from 2019 to 2023.

Throughout his time in office, he introduced changes in the justice system, advocated for the rights of women and children, and set the groundwork for openness and responsibility by creating a public complaints and anti-corruption body in Jigawa. He also worked closely with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The head of ICPC has served as a lecturer at Jigawa State College of Islamic Legal Studies in Ringim, as well as at the Faculty of Law of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State. He has authored academic publications in both national and international journals and has delivered papers at conferences around the world.

As per Chigbo, Aliyu’s tenure at the ICPC has been characterized by a dedication to ethical principles, the rule of law, and global standards, which has garnered admiration and facilitated strong collaborations throughout Nigeria.

She revealed that the lecture will be hosted by the former Chief Judge of Lagos State and former Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips. He will also oversee the panel discussion.
