In light of recent accusations of widespread academic dishonesty related to AI use at Yonsei University, comparable violations have also been discovered at Seoul National University.
As reported by Seoul National University on the 12th, it has been disclosed that several students utilized artificial intelligence to address questions during the mid-term examination for the university’s liberal arts course titled *‘Statistics Experiment’*, which took place last month.
The class, mainly attended by students from the College of Business Administration at Seoul National University, is held face-to-face with around 30 participants. The mid-term examination was also conducted in person, utilizing computers available in the classroom.
Even though the university had earlier stated that the use of AI during problem-solving was not allowed, it was reported that some students were caught engaging in academic dishonesty by utilizing AI.
A representative from Seoul National University mentioned, “The teaching assistant found signs of AI usage while grading and asked students to report themselves, with 1–2 students admitting to violating the rules.”
Seoul National University intends to cancel the midterm exam results for the class and conduct a resit shortly.
Previously, a major lecture at Yonsei University caused debate when students were discovered using artificial intelligence for academic dishonesty.
