, November 16 – Sheikh Jamil Hasan, a third-year Political Science student at the University of Dhaka, is a Bangladeshi swimmer who successfully finished the 10-kilometer open water race at the international “Oceanman Thailand 2025” event in Phang Nga province, Thailand. He completed the race in almost five hours.
The gathering included attendees from 36 nations, featuring two swimmers from Bangladesh—Sheikh Jamil Hasan and Pijus Mishra. Taking part in an international competition is viewed as a significant accomplishment for the nation.
The competition occurred in the open waters of the Andaman Sea, where powerful currents, tides, and natural ocean challenges added extra difficulties for the swimmers. Despite these hurdles, Sheikh Jamil finished the 10-kilometer route successfully.
The Oceanman series is an internationally acclaimed open water swimming event that draws top-tier athletes, professional swimmers, and specialists in long-distance swimming. While Bangladesh has had minimal involvement in recent times, emerging swimmers are starting to gain recognition on the global stage.
