Valencia Grand Prix winner Marco Bezzecchihas clarified his ‘marriage proposal’ stunt after the MotoGP season finale on Sunday.

A victory lap celebration of his countrymanValentino Rossiwould have been proud, the Italian knelt on one leg and ‘proposed’ to the RS-GP that had taken him to victory.

Back at the paddock, Bezzecchi told the media, “she said yes,” and mentioned that the Aprilia would indeed be returning with him. This is because his victory in Valencia, which marked his third grand prix win of the season, also secured a last-minute victory in a bet against CEO Massimo Rivola.

I won this bicycle in a bet against Massimo,” he said. “I told him that if I managed to win three races, the bike would be mine. And I did win the bike… so I asked her if she wanted to marry me. Fortunately, she said ‘yes’.

It’s really fashionable to get married these days, and I wanted to be a bit more in line with the trend,” said the 27-year-old. “Usually, I don’t pay much attention to such things… but I love my bike, it was really cool.

The man from Rimini later explained how he had used the wager as a driving force to compete throughout the season.

“In my living room, there’s a large area that I’ve left vacant [for the bike] throughout the season,” he stated.

It has been the first thing I notice whenever I enter the house. This way, every time I return home from training, I clearly remember what I aim to accomplish.

The festivities are not the first creative endeavor Bezzecchi has undertaken in 2025. After his victory in the sprint race at Misano in September, he created a wooden leg. While confusing for non-Italians, this film allusion was well-received by his fellow countrymen.
