Internationally recognized entertainer and technology entrepreneur Oladapo Oyebanjo, widely referred to as D’banj, has established a significant collaboration with the United Nations to introduce the Nigerian Youth Positively Driven (NYPD) program. This agreement follows Afreximbank’s investment in his C.R.E.A.M platform.
The NYPD was formally introduced during the UN@80 initiative in Abuja, alongside the launch of the Creative Alliance for Peace. The NYPD initiative acts as a national appeal, urging Nigerians to record and honor positive developments occurring within their localities.
When discussing the creative sector, we are all aware that content is currently our most significant export as a country,” stated D’banj. “Regrettably, there aren’t enough solid partnerships or platforms that enable young people to access proper assistance.
He stated that the new effort will shift the country’s focus towards advancement, creativity, and those leading transformation.
Africa stands as the largest in terms of creativity, and we have barely reached 20%. I believe it is crucial to unite and give voice to this potential.
Individuals appearing in videos uploaded via the NYPD portal can earn a N1,000,000 grant, while those who upload the videos will get a N250,000 grant. The rewards will be distributed every week as part of an extensive initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating positive contributions nationwide.
Following the C.R.E.A.M Platform recognizing the NYPD’ians, the top submissions are sent to the Creative Alliance for Peace to be expanded, refined, and implemented within the community.
The partnership will also direct initiatives towards renewable energy options and sustainability-focused outcomes across the country.
