The U.S. Government is getting ready to organize the third iteration of its 3MTT Impact Summit, a national initiative aimed at highlighting the nation’s digital expertise and assisting individuals in transforming their concepts into practical applications.
The program is managed by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency. The primary objective is to equip Nigerians with the necessary abilities to engage in the digital economy and link them with job opportunities.
The conference will be held in six different areas. Delta State will organize the South-South session on 28–29 November, and Gombe State will oversee the North-East event on the same dates. Kano will manage the North-West edition also on 28–29 November. The South-East gathering will occur in Enugu on 3–4 December, Lagos will host the South-West session on 8–9 December, and the North Central meeting will be held in Abuja on 10–11 December.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, mentioned in a LinkedIn update that “throughout all six regions of Nigeria, our participants will showcase solutions developed based on their communities’ requirements. Their efforts demonstrate that innovation flourishes when individuals are equipped with knowledge and backed by robust ecosystems. The conference serves as a link between education and the business world, between local perspectives and nationwide influence.”
Prominent winners from recent hackathons throughout the nation will present their ideas at the summit, showcasing their innovations to industry experts, government officials, financiers, and partners within the ecosystem. These presentations aim to create pathways for expanding creative solutions across the country, tackling issues in health, farming, financial access, climate adaptability, education, and other areas.
Introduced in 2023, the 3MTT program is designed to equip three million Nigerians with digital competencies such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, data analysis, and network security by 2027. The project offers free education and assistance in finding employment, with the long-term objective of generating two million digital positions by 2025.
Participants will be acknowledged through cash prizes, guidance from mentors, social events for networking, and venues to promote their solutions across the country. As the 3MTT program grows beyond its original group of 30,000 participants, the summit is anticipated to highlight the powerful effect of making digital skills accessible throughout Nigeria.
