In accordance with the instructions from the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the resolutions made at the 53rd meeting of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC), an IT delegation comprising representatives from high courts throughout the country visited the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday. The delegation consisted of IT officials from the Sindh High Court, Balochistan High Court, and Islamabad High Court, while the Peshawar High Court participated through a video conference. LHC Registrar Amjad Iqbal Ranjha greeted the attendees, along with Director General Judicial and Case Management, Javed Iqbal Bosal. The visiting officials received a comprehensive overview from the Additional Registrar of the LHC IT Wing regarding the court’s wide array of technology-based initiatives. A major focus of the presentation was the Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS), a significant project that connects all key elements of the criminal justice system – such as Police, Prosecution, Probation and Parole, Prisons, Forensic Agencies, and Medico-Legal Departments – with the District Judiciary. The initiative is designed to simplify procedures and improve transparency, representing a major advancement in delivering effective justice.
Other digital systems demonstrated in the briefing were the Case Flow Management System (CFMS), Cause List Color Management, Case Proceedings Display System, Postal Processing System, and the Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Key features of the HRMS highlighted included facial recognition-based attendance via a mobile application, centralized management of employee profiles, digital record handling, an HRMIS Leave Module, digitally handled judicial transactions, mobile-based barcode file tracking, and biometric verification for surety bond deposits.
The group was also updated on further IT advancements including the LHC Employee Card application, recent improvements to the website, a new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) section added to the court’s online platform, upgrades to the LHC Job Portal, the Storage and Inventory Management System, the public feedback portal, and the Performance Tracking System.
The official visitors commended the LHC’s forward-thinking technological changes and highlighted the significance of implementing contemporary IT systems throughout all High Courts. They stressed that digital data management, responsibility, and enhanced public access to justice are crucial for reinforcing Pakistan’s judicial framework in today’s time.
