The head of sports development in Imo State, Obinna Onyeocha, has assured the state government’s dedication to promoting local sports throughout the region.

He made statements when the Eze-elect of Odun’Izuoha Amuzi autonomous community, located in the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Vitalis Chikere, visited him at his office over the weekend.

Onyeocha emphasized the state government’s dedication to local sports and to backing legitimate community projects.

He mentioned that Imo State is endowed with many athletes and pledged that these talents will have an outlet within the state.

The Commissioner stated, “This administration is dedicated to creating a viable sports environment that supports our youth. Collaborations with local leaders and clubs are essential in realizing this goal.”

Imo State is full of skilled individuals.

What is required is collaboration, funding, and consistency.

“We are open to partnerships that will assist us in uncovering, supporting, and highlighting these abilities,” he stated.

Previously, Eze Vitalis Chikere, the Eze-elect of Odun’Izuoha Amuzi autonomous community in the Ahiazu Mbaise local government area of Imo State, had called for the advancement of sports throughout the State.

Chikere, the leader of Nze Chikere Football Club, advocated for organized initiatives that can provide significant opportunities for youth through sports to develop.

He stated that his trip was centered on pursuing enhanced cooperation intended to boost sports growth throughout the state.

He stated, “our young people require structured routes to showcase their abilities. Through appropriate collaborations and regulations, sports can uplift them, channel their energy in a constructive way, and bring prestige to Imo State at every level.”

He observed that there were numerous talented individuals within the State looking for ways to showcase their abilities and to lead various sports globally.

The visit concluded with both sides expressing willingness to examine additional domains of collaboration, particularly in the advancement of grassroots football, involvement of young people, and handling of talent throughout the state.
