The head of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and the Indian military advisor in Nigeria, Colonel Manoj Singh, have emphasized their strong military collaboration between Nigeria and India during a formal visit to the Army Command in Abuja on 9 December 2025.
In a message shared by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, on the Nigerian Army’s X account on Tuesday, the Army commander highlighted the significance of sustaining a long-term collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces.
He referred to India’s enduring assistance in military training, capability development, and defense progress as essential, emphasizing the “critical importance of strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts, intelligence exchange, equipment aid, and professional military education.”
Singh praised the Nigerian Army for its continuous efforts in addressing security issues across the country and thanked them for the friendly welcome.
He emphasized India’s willingness to boost defense collaboration, such as more training prospects for Nigerian Army members and improved technical interactions in fields of shared interest.
The visit ended with the giving of gifts to Colonel Singh, the signing of the guestbook, and a collective photo, representing the lasting friendship and collaboration between the two countries.
