The head of the Nigerian Army, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has pledged that the military will keep carrying out both physical and non-physical operations to enhance safety throughout the nation.

Shaibu made this comment during the opening of a 36-classroom Government Day Girls’ Secondary School, which was enhanced by Maj.-Gen. Mamman Galadima, as part of the Army’s Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation initiative in Maradun, Zamfara, on Thursday.

“I restate that, under my direction, the Nigerian Army will keep following both active and non-active approaches of operations, working together with other security organizations and sincere citizens to enhance the security conditions throughout the nation,” Shaibu stated.

He stated, “The bond between the population and the military should be cooperative since the people rely on the Army, and the Army cannot achieve its goals without public support.”

Thus, I appeal to Nigerians to keep their faith in the Army and continue to back our initiatives.

The Nigerian News Agency states that Shaibu was present at the gathering through Maj.-Gen. WB Idris, Commander of the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North West, Operation PANSAYAN YAMMA (OPYA), based in Gusau, Zamfara.

Speaking about the project, Shaibu stated: “Today, we acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding and impeccable service of Maj.-Gen. Mamman Galadima, through the launch of this project.”

The concept of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects emerged from the desire to assist communities of Nigerian Army senior officers who, through commitment, hard work, and loyalty to the country, have reached the distinguished rank of Major-General.

I am pleased that today, Zamfara is honored to have a highly regarded senior officer from the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Mamman Galadima.

As per Shaibu, the Nigerian Army views the populace as essential collaborators in development.

Consequently, our initiatives are thoughtfully planned and carried out in collaboration with the communities that will benefit from them. Each project is structured to support the work of the states by offering high-quality essential services and infrastructure, thereby improving the standard of living and overall well-being of those involved.

“Our initiatives are ultimately a sign of gratitude to the communities that have contributed some of the country’s best individuals to serve in the Nigerian Army,” he stated.

Shaibu mentioned that the initiatives also have the strategic goal of motivating communities to continue backing Army activities and other efforts.

The Civil-Military Cooperation Initiatives have played a major role in our non-kinetic approaches to addressing the nation’s security issues, and I am pleased to observe that our experiences have been favorable up to now.

The restoration and improvement of Government Day Secondary School, which has recently been completed, is undoubtedly a practical and carefully planned effort. It is expected that this project will have a long-term positive effect on the educational welfare of the poor and other members of this community.

“Therefore, I praise Major General Galadima for a job well done and for the affection he has consistently demonstrated towards his people,” Shaibu stated.

He expressed gratitude to the government and citizens of Zamfara, particularly the inhabitants of Maradun, for consistently backing the Nigerian Army. Shaibu, nevertheless, called on the public to keep offering prompt and valuable information to help security forces establish a secure atmosphere for economic and social activities to flourish.

He pledged that the Army would keep collaborating with every level of government to address security issues throughout the nation.

Previously, Galadima stated that security goes beyond the battlefield, including the well-being and growth of the people that the Nigerian Army supports.

“This initiative went far beyond simply cutting a ribbon or revealing a plaque. It marks the revival of an institution and reignites hope, reinforcing the shared dedication to the future of girls in Maradun and Zamfara,” he stated.

In the meantime, the school principal, Mrs Suwaiba Nafaru, thanked Shaibu, Galadima, the Zamfara State Government, and the Maradun Emirate for their assistance.

She referred to the project as the largest community-led educational initiative in recent times, carried out by Galadima with true affection, dedication, and sense of duty towards his community.

NAN states that Galadima has declared a contribution of N2 million along with hundreds of thousands of exercise books for the school.

The renovation involved updating classrooms and staff offices, while the school’s borehole was enhanced with solar energy and water filtration systems for the community’s benefit.
