The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has honored Nigerian soldiers serving on the front lines, stating that the nation is deeply grateful for their sacrifices.

In a holiday greeting directed at service members deployed on missions, Oluyede commended the soldiers who are still working in different conflict zones while others are spending time with their loved ones.

“He expressed a unique acknowledgment to our courageous frontline soldiers who, even throughout this holy time, are stationed in different areas of conflict while safeguarding our country,” he stated.

As per the CDS, their “courage, structure, expertise, and altruistic dedication” exemplify the best values of the military, highlighting that they keep facing security challenges while the public celebrates the holiday season.

“You stay alert, facing various dangers to our shared peace and safety, while others are celebrating Christmas with their families. Because of this, the country is deeply thankful,” he added.

Oluyede also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their backing of the armed forces, emphasizing that the public’s trust and collaboration were essential for attaining long-term peace and safety.

“Mutual trust, collaboration, and teamwork between the armed forces and the general population are essential for achieving lasting peace and security throughout the nation,” he stated.

The CDS pledged that the well-being of staff would continue to be a key focus during his tenure.

“We are strongly dedicated to enhancing the living and working conditions for our staff and their families by offering improved welfare benefits, better healthcare services, improved housing, prompt payment of allowances, and ongoing assistance for the families of our deceased heroes,” Oluyede stated.

He encouraged Nigerians to take advantage of the holiday period to foster peace and solidarity, while urging members of the military to maintain discipline, professionalism, and loyalty to the Constitution.
