December 25, 2025 (NYALA) – On Thursday, the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) civil administration in South Darfur state, Youssef Idris Youssef, alleged that the Sudanese army attacked a fuel market in Nyala.
For over three straight days, drones have conducted intense air strikes on key RSF positions, such as Nyala International Airport and the surrounding areas, military facilities in the Al-Goumhouria and Al-Riyadh neighborhoods, along with sites in the city center and training camps. According to witnesses, the attacks have resulted in significant casualties.
Youssef stated in a press release that “Sudanese military aircraft attacked a fuel market in Nyala.” He criticized the event, asserting that striking markets is a method employed by the “remaining army,” a term the RSF uses to describe the military, to attack unarmed people.
Images and videos shared on social media depicted a major fire caused by the destruction of numerous fuel drums in the market and nearby storage facilities. E
Witnesses stated that there were multiple injuries among civilians and RSF personnel engaged in the fuel business.
Not long after the air strikes, local sources reported that RSF intelligence conducted arbitrary detentions of both civilians and military personnel. They were taken into custody near the strike location and the Nyala Grand Market, suspected of working with the army and supplying coordinates for military sites and markets.
The RSF has transformed multiple civilian facilities in the capital of South Darfur, such as the student dormitories at the University of Nyala, into bases for assembling and training foreign mercenaries and local fighters, as reported by military sources. It was also mentioned that the training involves operating drones.
