The head of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has urged officers and troops to recommit themselves to the principles of unity, discipline, and professionalism in carrying out their constitutional duties.
A post shared by the Nigerian Army’s X account on Friday saw the COAS make the statement while speaking to a group of officers and soldiers from the 81st Division Nigerian Army and Special Forces units involved in Operation Restore Hope at the 243 Recce Battalion Parade Ground, Ibereko Barracks, Badagry, Lagos.
Through his representative, the Corps Commander Ordnance, Major General A. G. Ibrahim, the COAS thanked Almighty God for His ongoing favor and safeguarding of the country and the brave soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
He pointed out that the observance of Christmas offers a chance for thoughtful consideration of the values of love, sacrifice, kindness, harmony, and togetherness, which are fundamental to Christian beliefs and closely related to the basic principles and spirit of the Nigerian Army.
Shaibu praised the personnel for their strength, bravery, and steadfast dedication to their responsibilities amid changing security issues throughout the nation.
“Stay faithful to established power, maintain the strictest levels of discipline, and keep acting with professionalism in every situation,” he advised.
The Chief of Army Staff assured the soldiers of the Army Headquarters’ dedication to boosting their well-being, training, and combat efficiency, emphasizing that these factors are essential for maintaining morale and increasing operational success.
He also urged them to keep peaceful interactions with local communities and to stay alert throughout the holiday season.
In his statement, the General Officer Commanding of the 81st Division of the Nigerian Army expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff for his ongoing support and guidance, pledging the division’s ongoing commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities in accordance with the Nigerian Army’s operational objectives.
The gathering included engagements with the soldiers and the sharing of positive messages, highlighting the Nigerian Army’s determination to stay a cohesive, well-ordered, and skilled unit dedicated to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial sovereignty.
