Two military personnel have been detained following allegations of sexual misconduct and recording threats directed at a female first lieutenant, according to Bangkok police on Saturday.
The victim submitted a report on Friday at the Bang Phlat police station, along with Pavena Hongsakula, the founder of the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women.
A 29-year-old first lieutenant, currently serving with a military unit, claimed that a retired lieutenant general had maintained her as his mistress and subjected her to physical abuse. She stated that when she tried to terminate the relationship, the officer kidnapped her and took her to a motel where he sexually assaulted her.
The man and his accomplice, a current captain, filmed the attack to intimidate her and stop her from filing a report, she mentioned.
Maj Gen Winthai Suwaree, a spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, confirmed that the two officers were involved and that legal proceedings are currently in progress.
The lieutenant-general had retired, and the captain was stationed in the same unit as the victim, said Maj Gen Winthai, who added that the captain would also face military disciplinary action.
The military promised complete support to guarantee justice for the female officer.
Following the complaint received on Friday, law enforcement issued arrest warrants for the two individuals, who are now facing allegations of sexual assault, physical assault, coercion, and unlawful detention.
A former military official is said to have given himself up on Friday evening, while his suspected partner was captured at a house in Nonthaburi.
Officers from the Bang Phlat police station mentioned that both suspects were brought to the Taling Chan Criminal Court on Saturday for detention proceedings.
Law enforcement officials raised concerns about bail because the accusations were serious and could result in significant consequences.
