December 26, 2025 (N’DJAMENA) – Two Chadian soldiers were killed in a drone strike at a military base close to the Sudanese border early Friday, according to local officials and security reports.

The protest took place in the border city of Tine, focusing on a military base located in a region that has turned into a key area for refugees escaping the turmoil in Sudan. Hamit Hassan, the head of the department that includes Tine, stated that two soldiers were killed and another was severely wounded.

The assault occurs during a rise in drone conflicts in Sudan, which has begun to affect nearby regions. This month, comparable attacks were documented near the Adre border checkpoint, worsening ties between N’Djamena and the conflicting groups in Sudan.

Neither the Sudanese military nor the RSF has provided an official reaction to the event.

Tine is now a crucial hub for thousands of Sudanese refugees. Humanitarian groups have cautioned that these attacks threaten relocation initiatives, which are already struggling due to insufficient funding for water, sanitation, and housing in safer inland camps.
