The Nigerian Air Force reported conducting two targeted aerial attacks on the locations of bandits within the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The activities, carried out within the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, focused on Turba Hill and a base associated with a notorious leader named Kachalla Dogo Sule.
A statement released on Monday by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, indicated that the attacks came after reliable, multi-source information about bandit operations in the region.
He mentioned that the initial attack took place at Turba Hill, which had been verified as a bandit refuge, and noted that the objective was located and eliminated.
Based on reliable, multi-source information, NAF air forces were sent to attack bandit areas at the specified sites. The initial attack focused on Turba Hill, which is known as a bandit base. Continuous intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance identified substantial human movement and an operational zinc-roofed building considered vital to the enclave’s operations.
“Following confirmed identification, the target was struck accurately, leading to a direct hit. Post-strike evaluation of the damage indicated the total destruction of the building and the elimination of multiple rebels,” the statement partially stated.
Ejodame mentioned that a second attack took place at the camp connected to the outlaw leader, Dogo Sule, who is associated with the production of homemade bombs and recent assaults along the Dan Sadau–Magami route.
He mentioned that the operation damaged active buildings and ignited flames inside the camp.
Ejodame stated, “The second AI operation took place at Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, a well-known hideout for bandits recognized as a major center for producing and deploying IEDs. Information had connected the camp to the organization and carrying out of recent IED attacks along the Dan Sadau–Magami route.”
The targeted attack successfully hit various operational buildings inside the area, causing severe fires that destroyed the facilities and eliminated several fighters, significantly disrupting the group’s ability to produce and use IEDs.
Ejodame mentioned that a number of bandits were killed during both operations, although no specific casualty numbers were disclosed.
These critical aerial attacks mark a major weakening of outlaw groups active in Zamfara State, especially their ability to create and use homemade explosive devices.
“The operations highlight the Nigerian Air Force’s steadfast dedication, collaborating closely with other parts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to prevent criminals from having secure areas, reduce their fighting capability, and assist continuous joint initiatives aimed at bringing about long-term peace and safety in the North-West and the entire country,” the statement noted.
Zamfara State has emerged as one of the major hubs for banditry in North-West Nigeria, where armed factions are accused of abductions, assaults on villages, and interference with agricultural operations.
Various operations have been initiated by security forces in the area to dismantle the groups’ bases and limit their mobility.
