The Police Forces’ Anti-Smuggling Division announced in a statement that the high-level operation led to the seizure of significant amounts of arms and restricted equipment.
Carried out in collaboration with security teams and the Public Prosecution, the operation revealed 10 barrels containing extremely hazardous chemicals, namely ethyl acetate and cerietol. Authorities mentioned that these materials are commonly utilized in unlawful activities including counterfeit money production, illegal printing, and food contamination, presenting a significant risk to economic stability and public well-being.
The confiscated items consisted of a drone along with its remote control, seven different types of cannons, sniper rifles, pistols, and a large quantity of multi-caliber ammunition. Troops also found 60 B10 shells, grenades, and firearm magazines.
Besides the weapons, officials found wireless communication equipment, such as Starlink terminals, “black dollars,” and four vehicles that were not registered.
Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the Customs Forces, referred to the seizure as a significant success that demonstrates the outstanding effectiveness of anti-smuggling teams. Brigadier General Atif Al-Radi, director of the Anti-Smuggling Division in the Northern State, mentioned that the operation came after a phase of intelligence collection and monitoring of smugglers’ activities.
Al-Radi stated that all legal actions have been commenced concerning the seized items. He mentioned that security forces are maintaining a heightened state of readiness to protect the country’s borders and fight against smuggling operations that threaten national security.
The Northern State is bordered by Egypt and Libya, acting as a recognized route for the smuggling of narcotics, arms, and individuals.
