BN Polo narrowly beat Rijas/Sheikhoo with a score of 6-5½ in the exciting match of the 6th Allama Iqbal Polo Cup 2025, organized by Master Paints in honor of the late Sufi Haris at Jinnah Polo Fields.
The game highlighted exceptional individual performances, especially from Hamza Mawaz Khan of BN Polo, who took control of the match with four goals, while teammates Saim Abbas and Ibrahim Khalil each scored one goal. Rijas/Sheikhoo’s strong performance was spearheaded by Raja Sami Ullah, who netted a hat-trick (3 goals), aided by Mumtaz Abbas Niazi and Mohib Faisal Shahzad, each scoring once.
BN Polo took an early advantage when Ibrahim Khalil scored a field goal in the first chukka, giving his team a 1-½ lead. The second chukka was crucial, as it saw a burst of goals. Raja Sami Ullah converted a 30-yard penalty, and Mumtaz Abbas Niazi added a field goal for Rijas/Sheikhoo, but Hamza Mawaz Khan shifted the game in BN Polo’s favor with an impressive hat-trick, scoring from a 60-yard penalty, a 30-yard penalty, and a field goal.
During the third chukka, Saim Abbas scored for BN Polo, while Mohib Shahzad replied for Rijas/Sheikhoo. In the final chukka, Rijas/Sheikhoo made a strong effort with a penalty by Raja Sami Ullah and a last-minute field goal, but a well-timed shot from Hamza Mawaz Khan helped BN Polo secure a close win. Club Secretary Major Adil Sultan Rao, along with many polo players and their families, was present to watch the intense competition. Today (Saturday), three important matches are planned: Rijas/Sheikhoo will face FG/Din at 12:00 PM, PB Polo will play against Team Balochistan at 1:15 PM, and BN Polo will compete against Master Paints at 2:30 PM.
