Nepal, Jan. 3 — The Surya Nepal Golf Tour’s eight events kick off with the Central Open. During the 2024-25 season, held from November 25 to 28, 2024, amateur golfer Rahul Bishwakarma won the championship at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, marking his initial professional victory.

And Bishwakarma, a recreational golfer, once again took center stage during the Central Open in the 2025-26 season. Bishwakarma achieved a 4-under 68, resulting in a 72-hole total of 14-under 274, beating professional Jayram Shrestha by 14 strokes to secure his third career victory on Thursday.

Bishwakarma’s second title was won at the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, which marked the final event of the 2024-25 season’s eight tournaments.

“This victory will significantly influence my future in golf,” Bishwakarma mentioned to the Post following his second professional title on June 19 last year.

Bishwakarma started the last day of the 2025-26 Central Open with a five-stroke advantage over professional Jayram, and he increased his lead to eight strokes following the first nine holes. He recorded four birdies on the second, third, eighth, and ninth holes, while experiencing one bogey on the fifth hole. After the turn, Bishwakarma achieved birdies on the 12th and 15th holes before losing a stroke on the 17th hole.

Pro Shrestha made the turn with a score of 36, which was even par. He started the round with consecutive birdies on the first and second holes, but then encountered challenges on the third and seventh holes. He struggled through the back nine, posting a 41, which was 5 over par, after facing bogeys on the 10th, 12th, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes.

Bishwakarma won Rs170,000 along with the championship.

A total of 37 professionals and 25 amateurs participated in the tournament, with the top 18 golfers earning prize money.
