The Civil Tigers Club won against Arambagh Club with a score of 32-28 in the final, securing the highly sought-after trophy at the 5th Deputy Commissioner (DC) South Boys Basketball Championship held at the International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court in Karachi.
Maaz Ashraf played a key role in the Tigers’ success, contributing 15 points, with three important three-pointers. He was aided by M Haris Shahid (11 points) and Ahmed Ali (8 points). The second-place team was led by Engineer Zain-ul-Abidin Channa, who showed great effort with 12 points, followed by Iftikhar Ahmed (10) and Hasan Ali (8).
The closing ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner (Arambagh) Muntaha Azhar, who handed out cash prizes and trophies. DC South Javed Nabi Khoso also participated in the event. The top male player was Maaz Ashraf, and the best female player was Anabia Asif. The fair play awards were won by KMA College (Girls) and TMI Academy (Boys), while the sports organizer award was given to Imran Katia.
During her speech, the chief guest Muntaha Azhar stated that the District South Administration will organize an Annual Sports Gala Dinner after Eid-ul-Fitr. This gathering will present the ‘2025 Annual Performance Awards’ to sports organizers. A specific committee, headed by DSBA President Asif Gulfam and Secretary Ghulam Muhammad Khan, has been established to manage the selection procedure. The final was monitored by a group of international and national technical officials, such as Zafar Iqbal Chaudhary, Aamir Sharif, and Zahid Malik.
