‘Bull’ Hwang Hee-chan, 30, ended a four-month goalless run in the English Premier League (EPL) and rekindled his scoring ability. His efforts helped his team Wolverhampton secure their first win in 20 matches since the beginning of this season.
Hwang Hee-chan netted a goal and delivered an assist in the 2025-2026 EPL Round 20 home game against West Ham on the 4th (Korean time) at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England, helping his team secure a 3-0 win.
Hwang was included in the starting lineup and received a pass from the left side in the 4th minute of the first half. He used his individual ability to beat a defender and made a low pass towards the goal. John Arias moved in to score the first goal. This was Hwang’s first assist in the regular league this season and his second in official games, which includes cup competitions.
In the 31st minute of the first half, Hwang found the back of the net directly. Following a penalty won by Wolverhampton’s 19-year-old star, Matheus Mane, Hwang took the spot and confidently placed the ball in the center of the goal. Hwang had gone more than four months without scoring for his team, last finding the net during the EPL Round 3 game against Everton on August 3 of last year. His second goal of the season finally ended his extended drought.
Wolverhampton increased their advantage to 3-0 when Mane scored another goal in the 41st minute of the first half, and they maintained their lead without allowing any goals in the second half to clinch the victory. Hwang was replaced by Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 14th minute of the second half following complaints of right leg discomfort.
This win marked Wolverhampton’s first success in 20 games since the season began. The squad, currently sitting in 20th position at the bottom of the table, now has 1 victory, 3 draws, and 16 defeats (6 points), narrowing the difference with 19th-placed Burnley (12 points) to 6 points.
