PORT HARCOURT –The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has removed Dr Nname Ewor from his position as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, reportedly due to his association with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who was recently removed from the party.
Ewor faced suspension from both his role and party affiliation due to actions deemed harmful to the PDP within the state.
After the decision, Ogbam Ojimah, the Caretaker Committee Secretary, took up the role of Acting Chairman.
Speaking to reporters following an urgent gathering of the Caretaker Committee on Saturday, Ojimah stated that Ewor had effectively stepped down from his role due to actions that went against the party’s formal position regarding Wike.
He emphasized the committee’s commitment to the PDP leadership headed by Turaki, highlighting that Wike’s removal removed his ability to affect the party’s operations.
Ojimah stated, “The PDP’s Caretaker Committee in the Rivers State chapter, following our meeting on January 3, 2026, has decided to distance itself from the remarks and public activities of Dr. Nname Robinson Ewor.”
It is crucial to inform the public that Hon. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has been removed from the party and does not have the authority to get involved in PDP matters.
By his actions and words, Dr. Ewor has willingly stepped down as Caretaker Chairman.
Thus, the committee has officially put him on hold in his roles as both Chairman and member of the Rivers State PDP CTC. No interactions should occur with him in this position.
The committee has collectively selected Secretary Ogbam Ojimah as Interim Chairman and Dr. Baribefu Fidunko as Interim Secretary.
“We are dedicated to enhancing our party for successful elections and delivering efficient services to the people, guided by Dr. Kabiru Turaki, the PDP National Chairman,” Ojimah stated.
