Dhaka, January 4 — The diplomatic tension caused by the Indian Premier League’s decision to exclude Mustafizur Rahman has intensified, with Bangladesh’s Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul urging that the nation’s T20 World Cup games be relocated from India.
In a fiery statement released on Saturday, Asif Nazul criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for instructing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release the fast bowler, alleging that the Indian cricket board had “given in to extremist communal groups.”
Nazrul mentioned that he has directed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to submit an official written response to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The instruction involves a particular request to move Bangladesh’s World Cup matches to the co-host country Sri Lanka because of security issues.

“I have instructed the board to notify (the ICC) that if a single Bangladeshi player is unable to play in India, the entire Bangladesh cricket team will not feel secure traveling there for the World Cup,” Nazrul said.
Increasing the tension, the Adviser revealed that he has asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to prohibit the broadcast of the IPL in Bangladesh.
We will never tolerate any disrespect towards Bangladesh’s cricket, its players, or the country in any situation,” Nazrul stated. “The era of subjugation has ended!
The dispute started earlier on Saturday when KKR terminated Mustafizur’s contract as per a BCCI instruction influenced by political pressure. BJP leader Sangeet Som commended the decision as a “triumph for Hindus,” referencing supposed mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh.

Although the decision received backing from India’s ruling party, it encountered strong disapproval from opposition members. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor described the action as “condemnable,” questioning if the individual was being penalized based on their faith.
