Sri Lanka, Jan. 7 — The head of the Indian Army, General Upendra Dwivedi, arrived in Sri Lanka today (06) for a two-day official trip, as reported by the Indian Ministry of Defence. Sri Lanka Employment
While visiting, General Dwivedi is scheduled to meet high-ranking Sri Lankan military and governmental figures, including the head of the Sri Lanka Army, the Deputy Minister of Defence, and the Defence Secretary, to address topics of shared interest like training collaboration, development initiatives, and regional security.
He is also set to speak to officers at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and engage with officers and trainees at the Army War College in Buttala, highlighting India’s emphasis on military education and professional interactions with Sri Lanka.
As part of the visit, General Dwivedi is scheduled to pay respects at the IPKF War Memorial, acknowledging the contributions of Indian troops who were deployed in Sri Lanka.
The Indian Ministry of Defence stated that the visit highlights India’s dedication to boosting defense collaboration, building mutual confidence, and improving compatibility with allied countries in the Indian Ocean area.
