Sri Lanka, January 7 – General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff of India, is set to arrive in Sri Lanka today for a two-day official trip.

Upon arriving, the COAS will receive a Guard of Honour from the Sri Lanka Army. He will meet with top military and civilian leaders, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, the Deputy Minister of Defence, and the Defence Secretary, and discuss issues of common interest such as training collaboration, capability development, and regional security, according to the Indian High Commission in Colombo.

During their visit, the COAS will speak to officers at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and engage with officers and trainees at the Army War College in Buttala, highlighting India’s firm dedication to defense education and professional military collaborations with Sri Lanka.

General Dwivedi will also pay respect at the IPKF War Memorial, recognizing the ultimate sacrifice made by Indian soldiers.

He is scheduled to go to Sri Lanka after previously visiting the UAE.

A press release from the Indian High Commission in Colombo stated that the visit of the Army Chief to the UAE and Sri Lanka highlights India’s dedication to boosting military collaboration, building mutual confidence, and improving compatibility with allied countries in the Indian Ocean Region and West Asia.
