Founder of Zeteo News, Mehdi Hasanlaunched a quick-fire reply to President Donald Trump’s and the right wing’sharping on Somali fraud in Minnesota.

“The right has been loudly claiming for the past few weeks that the left in America refuses to discuss fraud, particularly Somali fraud. … Well, let’s show them they’re wrong, shall we? Give me just 60 seconds. Start the timer.” said Hasan, then delivered a rapid-fire list of fraudsters that both Trump and MAGA have largely overlooked.

Let’s discuss a convicted fraudsterTrevor Milton, who cheated his investors, caused them tens of millions of dollars in losses, and received a four-year prison sentence. Oh, right, he’s not Somali, and Donald Trump granted him a pardon last year,” said Hasan. “Let’s discuss the convicted fraudster Paul Walsack, who took more than $7 million from his employees’ paychecks and was given an 18-month prison term. Oh, right—not Somali, and Donald Trump pardoned him last year.”

Hasan then sang a line referencing “convicted fraudster”Michelle Fiore, who took $70,000 intended for a tribute to deceased police officers and used it on personal expenses, including plastic surgery.

“Oh, hold on, she isn’t Somali, and Donald Trump granted her a pardon last year,” Hasan stated.

Let’s discuss Lawrence Duran, who was leading the biggest Medicare fraud scheme related to therapy at that time, received a 50-year prison sentence, and was ordered to repay $87 million. Oh, right, he isn’t Somali, and Donald Trump pardoned his sentence last year.

Hasan then mentioned Philip S. Forms, who composed “the largest criminal Medicare fraud in American history,” with over a billion dollars in fake claims, and who received a 20-year prison sentence from a jury of his fellow citizens following years of stealing.

Oh, hold on, he’s not Somali. Donald Trump commuted his sentence in 2020. Let’s discussDavid Gentile, who swindled more than 10,000 investors out of over $1.6 billion through what essentially was a Ponzi scheme and received a seven-year prison sentence.”

However, Hasan noted that Gentile is not Somali, and Trump granted him a pardon in December, which not only halted his sentence and fines but also his restitution to the victims.

“So keep in mind, their concern over Somali fraud isn’t due to being upset about fraud itself — their hero continues to pardon those who commit it — but rather because they are troubled by Somalis. And yes, that labels them as racists,” Hasan stated.
