The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has urged soldiers to maintain professionalism in their roles and to protect the basic human rights outlined in theUnited Nations Charter during operations.
The Chief of Army Staff assigned the COAS the responsibility while speaking to frontline troops during his operational visit to the 31 Brigade Area of Responsibility (AOR).
He praised the soldiers for their unwavering commitment, expertise, and hard work in handling the security conditions in the Brigade’s area of responsibility, located in Niger State.
As per a statement from Colonel Apollonia Anele, the Nigerian Army’s representative, the COAS pledged better living conditions for the troops. He mentioned that he had been fully informed about their issues, especially concerning housing and essential facilities designed to improve the quality of life for soldiers and their families.
The Chief of Army Staff further urged the soldiers to stay strong, alert, and resolute in handling terrorists active in the broader regions of Shiroro, Rijau, and other areas under the Brigade’s command.
The statement mentioned that he oversaw the building and upgrading of housing and other critical facilities to enhance the spirits and operational efficiency of the soldiers and their families.
