The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated on Thursday that Hezbollah is “rearming more quickly than it is being disarmed,” presenting a map highlighting supposed Hezbollah facilities, firing positions, and subterranean systems located south of the Litani River.

The Lebanese armed forces stated that they have completed the initial stage of a strategy to fully deploy throughout southern Lebanon and neutralize non-state entities, particularly Hezbollah.

The leaders of Lebanon — President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri — supported the military statement.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the progress was positive but “not nearly enough.”

Israel claims that even though Lebanon is making efforts, Hezbollah continues to try to rebuild its arms in southern Lebanon.

– Worries about a renewed surge – Concerns over a fresh increase – Anxiety regarding a new rise – Fears of a further intensification – Apprehensions about a new escalation

Israel keeps carrying out attacks in Lebanon on a near-daily basis and has taken control of five “strategic” hilltop positions along the border, the only regions south of the Litani River that the military claims it has not yet secured.

Israel claims that Hezbollah is attempting to restore its weakened military strength and has stated that the Lebanese army’s actions are inadequate, increasing concerns about a potential new escalation. Meanwhile, Lebanon mentioned that Israel’s attacks and control over the hilltops are hindrances to their efforts.

Lebanon also expects that removing arms from Hezbollah and other non-state entities will assist in attracting funds required for rebuilding following the 2024 conflict.

Hezbollah claims it has been working alongside the military in the southern region but refuses to address its disarmament in other areas until Israel halts its attacks and leaves Lebanese land.
