The leader of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, has stated that from his discussions with American officials, he believes the U.S. aims for Lebanon to create a real state that will conclude a peace treaty with Israel.

Geagea stated to Sky News Arabia, during an interview released on Thursday, that a genuine state cannot be established unless Hezbollah is disarmed. He added that Hezbollah can be disarmed without using force, as the group is currently in a weakened state and “lacks the capability to face anyone.”

He mentioned that he backs President Joseph Aoun’s stance. “I endorse the president’s position that military action should be used exclusively as a final option,” he stated.
