Amid the release of an emotional phone call recording between comedian Park Na-rae, 41, and her former manager A, A provided details about the situation, saying, “I received Park Na-rae’s call because she wanted to reach an agreement.”

The contentious audio was made public on the 10th via the YouTube channel *Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho*. It features a conversation between Park Na-rae and A during the early hours of the 8th of last month. The recording captures A crying, stating, “I don’t understand how things got this bad” and “I didn’t want it to reach this point,” while Park Na-rae comforts A with comments such as “Stop crying” and “Where are you now” after A voiced worries about Park Na-rae’s pet dog Bokddori.

After this call, the two met “before dawn” at Park Na-rae’s house to talk about a resolution. That same day, Park Na-rae shared on Instagram that she would be taking a break from her broadcasting work, saying, “We have addressed the accumulated misunderstandings and lack of trust.” When the recording became public during this period, online responses included, “They don’t look like an abuser and a victim,” “Their relationship doesn’t seem troubled,” and “I will stay neutral.” Some people even showed empathy. On the other hand, others suggested, “There might have been complicated emotions involved,” and “The emotional call and the truth are different matters,” highlighting the importance of focusing on the facts.

In reply, party A’s team gave a thorough explanation of the events that led up to the call and the following meeting. A said, “On the day of the call, I had an earlier commitment at a drinking event. Once it was over, I was told by a third party that Park Na-rae wanted to meet me and was looking for a resolution, mentioning Bokddori.” A further mentioned, “Since my resignation, I have never been the one to call Park Na-rae; all calls were initiated by her.”

A continued, “During the call, Park Na-rae frequently referred to Bokddori in a manner that made me concerned about the dog, using it as an excuse to stay in touch.” A stated, “I was mainly in charge of taking care of and managing Bokddori.” A further added, “The recorded call was a discussion that took place before the early morning meeting. The only reason I met with Park Na-rae was because she told people around me that she wanted to resolve things with me. Although I wasn’t feeling well, I believed her and agreed to meet.”

A mentioned that during the roughly three-hour meeting after the call, there was no conversation regarding the legal settlement they had expected. A denied, “Not once was the content of the settlement agreement, the settlement amount, lawsuits, withdrawals, or provisional seizures brought up.” A added, “The assertion from Park Na-rae’s side that ‘A suggested a 500 million Korean won settlement amount’ is also false.”

A continued, “When I woke up around lunchtime on the same day, media reports contradicted the actual facts. I was shocked and met with my lawyer, submitting a formal settlement document to Park Na-rae’s legal team.” A explained, “The document did not specify any financial compensation; it only requested an apology and admission from Park Na-rae concerning the false information published about us. Nevertheless, Park Na-rae sent a message asking, ‘What else do you want besides money?’ It became clear there was no real desire to resolve the issue, and the discussions eventually fell apart.”

In the meantime, authorities are looking into claims of misuse of power involving Park Na-rae. A request for the temporary seizure of properties valued at 100 million South Korean won, submitted by several managers including A, has been granted. The inquiry into the accusers concerning allegations of intentional harm and misappropriation of funds has been completed. Park Na-rae has also filed a counter-lawsuit against the previous managers for attempted blackmail and embezzlement.
