A feeling of kindness, belief, and optimism permeated Tafara Children’s Home in Shurugwi during a joyful outreach event where children were given gifts and given renewed confidence in a better tomorrow, after significant commitments made by the River Valley Group.
The trip, influenced by the biblical passage urging compassion for children found in Mark 10:13–16, brought joy and enthusiasm to the young residents as they engaged with guests in a setting filled with affection and festivity.
During the visit, River Valley Group CEO Smelly Dube expressed that the experience was both inspiring and profoundly humbling, noting that it highlighted the duty society bears in supporting and safeguarding vulnerable children.
“It was a thrilling experience engaging with and exchanging holiday snacks with the kids at Tafara Children’s Home in Shurugwi,” mentioned Dube.
Representing the River Valley Group, I committed to finishing the construction of a girls’ hostel and to aiding the development of a new school.
Dube stated that the dedication stemmed from the conviction that substantial progress starts with investing in children, who embody both the current and future of the country.
“By supporting children, we are investing in our own future and leaving behind a legacy that will endure beyond us,” she remarked.
The suggested girls’ dormitory aims to offer a more secure and respectful living environment, while initiatives to assist in building a new school will increase educational opportunities for children at the home and nearby areas.
Staff at Tafara Children’s Home expressed appreciation for the commitment, noting that these changes would greatly enhance the well-being and learning opportunities for the children, most of whom originate from underprivileged circumstances.
The initiative combined spiritual beliefs with practical efforts, embodying the teaching of Christ: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” For the children in Tafara, the visit was more than just a joyful event — it served as a reminder that they are noticed, appreciated, and encouraged.
As the River Valley Group works to meet its commitments, the project serves as a strong illustration of how collaborations between businesses and communities can generate long-term effects by focusing on children’s needs in development initiatives.
