A 75-year-old woman named Amina Abu-Shaki, the spouse of the Sarkin Noma from the Kabe Community in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, is said to have been killed by armed robbers.
It was reported that the woman died instantly after being shot in her hiding spot while trying to escape during an attack on Kabe Community by thieves around 8pm on Tuesday.
Mallam Awwalu, a local inhabitant, shared with Daily Trust that the assailants, who arrived in significant numbers, entered the community approximately 8pm on Tuesday, shooting randomly and prompting residents to seek refuge.
He mentioned that 75-year-old Amina was seen along the path the attackers took when departing the community following the attack and was killed immediately.
“The terrorists attacked our neighborhood around 8pm on Tuesday. They robbed numerous stores and took food items and valuable items. Thank goodness they didn’t take anyone hostage, but an elderly woman, approximately 75 years old, was shot and died right there. She was shot while she was hiding. She was seen in the bushes and was shot,” he said.
Awwalu mentioned that numerous villages and communities in the region have been abandoned because of renewed assaults by thieves.
At the same time, four individuals lost their lives in an assault on Damala village within the same local government area on Friday.
Reports indicated that the assailants entered Damala village around 8 PM, killed four individuals, and compelled other inhabitants to leave their residences.
One of the sources revealed that the perpetrators also took cows and additional animals owned by locals.
He mentioned that places of worship and multiple homes were burned down in the attack.

Bago urges communities near Kainji Lake to leave before a security operation begins
The government of Niger State has instructed people living in villages near Kainji National Park to leave their homes within two months so that security forces can remove terrorists from the region.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago issued the directive during his visit to the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV, at his residence in New Bussa, as he expressed condolences to him and the Borgu Emirate following the recent terrorist incident at Kasuwan Daji market, which resulted in the deaths of at least 42 individuals, including merchants.
The governor stated that relocating the residents had become essential to prevent unintended harm, and mentioned that his administration, working together with the federal government, is committed to clearing the forest, drive out criminals who are using the Kainji Lake region as a base, and restore the area for living.
The ruler of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV, promised to collaborate with the appropriate officials to locate and bring to justice those who provide information within the emirate.
