Hundreds of individuals were injured, with at least two losing their lives in Russian air strikes on Ukraine during the night, as reported by the Ukrainian president. The assault occurs while U.S. and Ukrainian officials are scheduled to convene in Miami.
More than 200 strike drones were deployed during the night targeting Ukraine, resulting in at least two fatalities and numerous injuries, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday.
He mentioned on X that the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions were experiencing an attack.
Zelenskyy extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased and once more urged allies to boost their assistance.
Over the course of this week, more than 1,300 attack drones, approximately 1,050 guided aerial bombs, and 29 missiles of different kinds have been recorded. This is the reason why Ukraine still requires additional protection — primarily, more missiles for air defense systems,” he stated.
Zelenskyy claimed that Russia is intentionally prolonging diplomatic attempts to conclude the nearly four-year-long conflict while continuing to attack Ukraine.
The Russian offensive occurs while US and Ukrainian representatives are scheduled to convene in Miami to address security assurances and a post-conflict reconstruction plan for Ukraine.
Major cities, including the capital city of Kyiv, have faced power outages and heating issues as Russia targets an energy network that is already struggling.weakened due to a cold snap. Residents are facing difficulties as temperatures hit -16 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, Zelenskiy stated that he had directed the speeding up of electricity imports and the acquisition of more power machinery.
Blackouts in southern Ukraine under occupation
At the same time, over 200,000 residences in southern Ukraine under Russian control lost electricity after an assault by the Ukrainian military, as reported by the Moscow-backed administration on Sunday.
Yevgeny Balitsky, the Moscow-backed administrator of the Russian-occupied portion of the Zaporizhzhia region, stated that the attack resulted in a power outage for 213,000 customers and 386 local areas within the region.
On Saturday night, Vladimir Saldo, the Moscow-backed governor of the nearby Kherson region, stated that a Ukrainian attack targeted an electrical substation, leading to power cuts in 14 towns and 450 villages.
Over the past few months, Russia has conducted daily drone and missile strikes on Ukraine, focusing on energy facilities and causing power and heating outages during the freezing winter conditions.
