Pakistan, January 21 — Shoaib Malik, former captain of Pakistan, declared his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) following a ten-year career. He thanked for each moment experienced on and off the pitch. Malik mentioned that it’s now time to close this phase of his cricketing career.
In a social media post, Malik shared his thoughts on his 10-year journey in the PSL, mentioning that he truly appreciated both the successes and challenges. He commended his teammates, supporters, and event organizers for their backing during his time in the league. He also mentioned that his passion for cricket will never fade and he will keep playing a role in the sport.

Malik stated that although he is stepping down from PSL, his dedication to Pakistan cricket and its growth will not cease. He pointed out that guiding young athletes and supporting cricket projects will stay important. His knowledge from domestic and global competitions will help upcoming players.
A 44-year-old all-rounder had previously stepped down from Test cricket in 2015 and One-Day Internationals in 2019. While he never officially retired from T20 internationals, he has not played for the national team since 2021, choosing to concentrate on the PSL and other T20 competitions instead.
