The one-person vehicle, called the Audi R26, features a mainly gray color scheme with the company’s famous four-ring emblem in red on the back wing. The design is referred to as “the most elegant and eye-catching on the track.” The Sauber drivers from last year, Nico Huelkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, will remain with the team after the rebranding.

Italian engineer Mattia Binotto, who leads the project, stated that the 2026 F1 rules offered the perfect chance for Audi to join the sport. “This vehicle is a tangible representation of countless hours of dedicated effort by an exceptionally skilled team across our locations,” said team principal Jonathan Wheatley.

Wheatley stated that the launch represents “day one of a long campaign,” aiming to integrate a “championship DNA” into all areas of the team. He pointed out that a culture of resilience, accuracy, and ongoing performance enhancement is key to Audi’s extended plan in Formula One.

The Audi R26 is set to debut on the track next week during private tests at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, joining the other ten F1 teams. Representatives mention that these sessions will enable engineers and drivers to adjust configurations, collect performance information, and get ready for the opening race of the season.
