The principal of the Cadillac Formula 1 team, Graeme Lowdon, has outlined what he considers a successful start to the season for the American squad, which is making its debut as the 11th team on the grid.

The group is entering the competition at a moment when a fresh set of rules is being implemented, indicating that no team has any clear idea about their position relative to competitors at this point.

“It’s challenging. Achieving success in the Melbourne race—no one truly knows that, no one can predict where each driver will end up,” Lowdon said when questioned about the season-opening Australian Grand Prix during the Business Exchange London.

If you question any team leader right now about where they believe they’ll stand competitively, and they provide a comparative response, they’re essentially fabricating it. No one has clarity, which is why fans are watching.

We focus on the aspects we have control over. Naturally, we aim to perform effectively as a team, but that effort isn’t visible from the outside. One of the points we frequently mention is that our primary goal is to gain the respect of other teams. We hold them in high regard, and that’s appropriate. This is a world championship, so that’s our main objective.

But then we aim to compete with them, while also wanting to make a contribution. When I spoke to Jim [DeLorenzo, global head of sports at Apple] earlier, it’s incredibly exciting to see what Apple is accomplishing and the various initiatives they have in store. I’m enthusiastic about motorsport, yet I believe we have a huge chance to bring this sport to more and more fans, and we want to play a part in that as well.

A crucial aspect for us is that we don’t want fans to just track our actions. We want them to be part of our journey.

Cadillac will reveal its 2026 Formula 1 design in a television commercial during the Super Bowl on February 8, followed by pre-season testing the subsequent week. The Australian Grand Prix is scheduled for March 6-8.
