Four Moroccan athletes are included in the Best XI for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, which will take place from December 21 to January 18, according to an announcement made on Wednesday by the CAF Technical Study Group (TSG).
Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who “had an exceptional performance, allowing only two goals in seven games,” along with his teammates Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui, and Brahim Diaz, who became the tournament’s leading scorer, were highlighted in a press statement from the African organization.
The list is rounded out by four players from Senegal, including Moussa Niakhaté, Pape Gueye, Idrissa Gueye, and Sadio Mané, along with Nigerians Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, and Victor Osimhen.
The squad of the best players in the tournament was chosen by the CAF TSG, which used a comprehensive assessment system, starting remotely and later on-site during the event, aided by real-time data systems, multiple camera angles, and specialized video analysts.
