French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta has informed Crystal Palace that he wishes to depart the team, as attention from Premier League and European clubs increases.
According to BBC Sports on Wednesday, the 28-year-old player has 18 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park, and currently, he is not planning to sign a new deal. As a result, Palace are willing to sell the striker if their asking price is met.
Speaking last week, Palace manager Oliver Glasner stated that the club is open to considering offers.
“A cost will be accepted by Crystal Palace, with 18 months remaining on his contract. We would finalize the transfer if JP is interested. If no one offers that price, he will remain,” said the Austrian.
The team, which secured the FA Cup in May, transferred key midfielder Eberechi Eze to Arsenal during the summer and lost their captain Marc Guehi in January following his move to Manchester City for a fee of £20 million.
Glasner, who revealed last week that he will depart the club when the season concludes, launched a harsh criticism against the Palace management after Saturday’s defeat to Sunderland – asserting that the team had been ‘abandoned’ by the club’s scouting approach.
The Palace were eliminated from the FA Cup by non-league Macclesfield in one of the competition’s most surprising upsets earlier this month.
