Leading a varied list of nominees, the female motorsport initiative More than Equal won the Award for Pioneering and Innovation at the 38th edition.Awards, taking place at London’s Roundhouse.
Established by former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard and Czech lottery millionaire Karel Komarek, More than Equal is the pioneering and sole research initiative focused on women in motorsport, housing the world’s most extensive database of female performance within the sport. As a non-profit entity, its primary objective is to discover and nurture exceptional female talent with the aim of creating the first female F1 world champion.
After recognizing a promising individual, the program provides and implements a tailored driver development initiative to elevate them to the highest level.
“Thank you very much, we began four years ago with a goal of discovering and nurturing the first female Formula 1 world champion,” said Tom Stanton, CEO of More than Equal, who received the award from Toni Cowan-Brown.
At that moment, we weren’t aware that more individuals had traveled to space than had become F1 world champions. We are determined to achieve more and move ahead once more. The future is set to transform and will appear different.
Other contenders in this category included A2RL, an autonomous racing league backed by Abu Dhabi that promotes the application and comprehension of AI, Formula E’s Pit Boost, a quick recharging boost during races, and Le Mans Ultimate, recognized for its utilization of simulation tools in gaming.
The evaluation panel consisted of Alex Jacques, a Channel 4 F1 commentator, Sam Agini, a writer from the Financial Times, and Matthew Marsh, an expert in sponsorship. One member of the judging panel, Kate Beavan, who previously served as F1 Director of Hospitality and Experiences, withdrew from voting in this category because she advises the board of More than Equal.
Additional honors determined by the expert evaluation panel are the Promoter of the Year Award and the Brand Collaboration of the Year.
Categories chosen through fan voting feature Driver of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Moment of the Year sponsored by Bahrain International Circuit, Competition Car of the Year, Rally Driver of the Year, and British Competition Driver of the Year. Two new accolades for 2025 are Team of the Year and Creator of the Year.
