Norris also won the first-ever Champion award at the 38th Awardsat London’s Roundhouse on 21 January, marking his F1 championship victory nine years after claiming the renowned McLaren BRDC Award.
Sir Jackie Stewart, who gave Norris his first Award a decade ago, awarded the Champion title to the current F1 world champion during the event in front of attendees and supporters.
It’s a joy to be here 10 years after my first award; it’s been an amazing journey with so many members of my team present tonight,” Norris said. “In 2016, I got my foot in the door, did my first simulator test and my first F1 car test. There’s a deeply emotional story behind everything and it’s memorable in so many ways. So many positive experiences and incredible moments.
Moments like these make it [seem real]. When I return home, it’s back to everyday life; I enjoy playing golf, spending time with friends, and doing regular activities. However, being here with Sir Jackie after winning the F1 world championship makes it feel genuine.
Sharing this moment with my team, my family, and my friends is by far the best part, going through this journey together and making these memories. My mum is here tonight, of course – she’s the star of the show!
This marks the sixth occasion in seven years that Norris has received the award. Earlier recipients have been F1 world champions such as Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, and Lewis Hamilton. F1 drivers who have transitioned into commentary roles, like Martin Brundle and David Coulthard, have also been previous winners.
Additional categories determined through fan voting consist of Driver of the Year, Moment of the Year sponsored by Bahrain International Circuit, Competition Car of the Year, Rally Driver of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. Two new awards for 2025 are Team of the Year and Creator of the Year.
Additional honors, determined by panels of experts, feature the Pioneering and Innovation Award, Promoter of the Year, and Brand Partnership of the Year.
