Olympique de Marseille has formally confirmed the acquisition of Ziyad Baha, a 16-year-old Moroccan forward who is considered one of the most exciting prospects in his age group. The young attacker, son of former Moroccan international Nabil Baha (who earned 20 caps), has joined the Marseille team following his development in Spain, particularly with Málaga CF and Real Betis.
Highly watched in Morocco, Ziyad Baha gained recognition on the African level following his success in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations with the Atlas Cubs, a competition where he netted four goals. He further proved his talent at the U17 World Cup, scoring four times once more and playing a crucial part in Morocco’s strong performance.
Elaborating on his choice to move to Marseille instead of staying to further develop at Betis, the striker posted on Instagram: «After thoughtful reflection, I decided to pursue a different route that matches my aspirations and my progression as a player.» He also mentioned that he is entering this new phase «with ambition and resolve», while mentioning the club’s motto: «Straight to the goal.»
In Marseille, Ziyad Baha is set to achieve a significant milestone in his emerging career, with the mid-term goal of moving closer to the professional team.
