, January 24 — The 12th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) ended on Friday evening as Rajshahi Warriors won the championship in their first year, achieving a significant monetary reward along with the trophy.
After securing a commanding 63-run win against the Chattogram Royals in the final, the winners received a prize money of BDT 2.75 crore.
The second-place team, Chattogram Royals, managed to make it to the championship despite early-season ownership issues and took home BDT 1.75 crore.
From an individual perspective, pacer Shoriful Islam emerged as the top performer of the evening. The Chattogram Royals’ fast bowler had a remarkable season, setting a new record for the highest number of wickets in a single season by taking 26 wickets in 12 games.
His impressive economy rate of 5.84 and regular wickets secured him the Player of the Tournament title, making him the first fast bowler in BPL history to receive this honor.
Shoriful earned BDT 10 lakh for being the top player of the tournament and an extra BDT 5 lakh for being the leading wicket-taker, resulting in his overall income of BDT 15 lakh.
The winner of the final, Tanzid Hasan, received BDT 5 lakh for his outstanding performance in the match. The opener from Rajshahi scored a century in the decisive game for the title, making him the third Bangladeshi to achieve this feat in a BPL final, alongside the renowned Chris Gayle and Tamim Iqbal.
In the meantime, Parvez Hossain Emon of Sylhet Titans received BDT 5 lakh as the top run-scorer of the tournament. Although his team did not reach the final, Parvez scored 395 runs in 12 matches with a strike rate of 132.99.
Among the other recipients, young fast bowler Ripon Mondol from Rajshahi was honored as the Emerging Player of the Tournament. Taking 17 wickets in only 8 games, including a hat-trick and a Super Over win, Ripon received BDT 3 lakh.
Rangpur Riders’ Litton Das, who served only as a fielder this season following his decision to retire from wicketkeeping, was honored as the Best Fielder for making 10 catches in 11 matches, winning a reward of BDT 3 lakh.
