Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler (U.S.) is moving closer to a win in his first competition of the season.
Scheffler recorded eight birdies and no bogeys in the second round of the PGA Tour’s American Express event (held in La Quinta, California, with a par 72 course), which ended on the 24th. He finished at 17 under par, climbing two positions to share the lead.
The competition takes place over three venues: the Nicklaus Tournament Course, La Quinta Country Club, and the Pete Dye Stadium Course. Following the third round, the player ranked 65th will participate in the fourth round at the Pete Dye Stadium Course.
Scheffler competed at the Nicklaus Tournament Course on that day. He is scheduled to play at the Pete Dye Stadium Course during the third round. “The course tomorrow is difficult, but I’m excited for the challenge,” he mentioned. “With half of the tournament still ahead, I aim to put in another strong performance tomorrow.”
Scheffler secured his initial win in early May last year because of injuries. Since that time, he has claimed a total of six events, including two major championships, and has been honored as Player of the Year for the fourth straight year. Should he win this tournament, the timing of his first victory this season will be advanced by roughly three months.

Blaze Brown (U.S.), a 19-year-old golf talent, lowered his score by 12 strokes on the same course where Scheffler played that day and climbed to the top of the rankings alongside him.
Among Korean athletes, Kim Si-woo notched one eagle and five birdies at the Pete Dye Stadium Course, concluding with a score of 7 under par. Having accumulated a total of 16 under par, he is currently in third position. Kim Si-woo secured his third career win at this event in 2021.

Kim Si-woo stated, “There were numerous challenges that left me feeling somewhat uneasy, but in general, I performed well. A strong beginning helped make the game easier to handle.”
Kim Sung-hyun, who came back following a stint on the second-tier tour, is sharing fourth position with a score of 15 under par. Kim Sung-hyun competed at the Nicklaus Tournament Course.
Lee Seung-taek is sharing the 62nd position with a score of 8 under par, while Kim Joo-hyung is at the 98th position with a total of 6 under par.
