Hongkongers are preparing for another chilly period this weekend, with temperatures expected to drop to 14 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

“A new wave of the northeast monsoon is expected to arrive at the southern China coastline this weekend,” stated the Observatory’s website on Tuesday.

Rain is anticipated on Friday and Saturday, with maximum temperatures reaching 20 degrees Celsius.

It is expected to gradually get warmer throughout the coming week, with maximum temperatures reaching 22 degrees Celsius forecasted for next Thursday.

The Observatory previously forecastThat the average temperatures during this winter and early spring would be “typical or slightly above average.”

The count of chilly days—when the daily low temperature reaches 12 degrees Celsius or lower—is anticipated to fall within the “typical” range of nine to 17 days.

In 2025, the Observatory recorded just six “cold days”– 9.2 days less than the mean measured from 1991 to 2020.
