During the hearing, Raja Rizwan Abbasi, acting on behalf of the petitioner, requested the court to address the appeal against Samina Shah’s acquittal first, highlighting that she was present at the residence during the time of the murder.

Justice Minhas asked about her particular involvement in the incident. Justice Tahir mentioned that Samina Shah had contacted the police following the crime, which the lawyer confirmed. The court also asked who else was in the house at that time, and the petitioner’s attorney stated that household staff were present.

The court accepted the preliminary filings and sent notifications to the respondents, postponing additional actions until February 17.

Sara Inam, who lived in Islamabad, was killed in September 2022. Her spouse, Shahnawaz Amir, was later found guilty by the trial court. The case gained significant public interest because of the severity of the crime and the participation of several family members in the legal process.
