A drink found in the car of Samsung Electronics’ chairman, Lee Jae-yong, has sparked online conversation.

Chairman Lee reached the Gimpo Airport Business Aviation Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, approximately 4:45 p.m. on the 26th, in order to participate in a gala celebration marking the ‘Lee Kun-hee Collection’ exhibition held in Washington, D.C., U.S.

Dressed in a suit and a navy blue padded vest, Chairman Lee exited the car, holding multiple papers in his left hand. At that moment, a bottle of drink located in the back seat of the vehicle, visible through the open door, caught the eye.

The drink is recognized as Vietnamese coconut water. Coconut water is high in electrolytes like potassium, sodium, magnesium, and phosphorus, yet it is low in calories, helping with hydration during extended journeys or following physical activity. Interestingly, the coconut water found in Chairman Lee’s car is organic and contains no fat, sugar, cholesterol, or gluten.

There is increasing curiosity about whether Chairman Lee, known for creating sell-out situations, will once again bring attention to coconut water. Items consumed by Chairman Lee or foods he likes often draw public interest.

On October 30 last year, Chairman Lee met with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun for a chicken-and-beer gathering at Kkanbu Chicken near Samsung Station in Seoul. The outerwear he wore sold out within a day on the online store SSF Shop, except for the small size. The item was recognized as a blue faux leather jacket from Ransmeier, a high-end collection under Galaxy, the fashion arm of Samsung C&T.

The Samsung C&T Bean Pole Golf cushioned vest that he wore during a work trip to Vietnam in December 2022, along with the red insulated jacket from the outdoor brand Arc’teryx that he put on while boarding the SRT at Suseo Station in Seoul alongside Marcus Wallenberg in 2019, also led to intense buying rushes.

Meanwhile, the ‘Lee Kun-hee Collection’ gala will take place at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, D.C., on the 28th local time. The event was arranged to celebrate the successful presentation of the biggest Korean antiquities exhibition in North America in more than 40 years and to honor the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee’s dedication to cultural contributions. It has been reported that all members of the Samsung leadership family, including Chairman Lee, Hong Ra-hee, honorary director of the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Lee Boo-jin, president of Hotel Shilla, and Lee Seo-hyun, president of Samsung C&T, will be present.
