A Border Patrol officer recently revealed details about a dozen “secret and obscure lists” that the PresidentDonald Trump’sThe administration has established a system to track Americans, as stated in a recent report.

Independent journalist Ken Klippenstein reportedon Wednesday that a source withinCustoms and Border Patrol talked to him about a list of “aggressive demonstrators” that the administration has compiled by combining various government databases. The demonstrators that the administration is most concerned with areanti-ICEand pro-Palestinian demonstrators, the report stated. Some of the codenames for the lists include Bluekey, Grapevine, Hummingbird, Reaper, Sandcastle, Sienna, Slipstream, and Sparta, it noted.

Some of these, such as Hummingbird, were designed to screen and monitor immigrants, specifically Afghans attempting to relocate to the United States. Slipstream is a secret social media database,” Klippenstein stated. “Other tools are utilized to connect individuals on the streets, including gathering information on friends and family members who have no connection to any alleged illegal activities.

Klippenstein noted that the federal government has employed various watchlists since the 9/11 attacks. These lists are utilized to handle the “flood of information” the government gathers regarding individuals of concern, despite courts rejecting the concept of watchlists entirely.

Now, the national security community has created a complex network of lists and applications that remain secret not only from the public but also unclear to most individuals working within federal agencies,” Klippenstein reported. “When asked about the watchlists, a Border Patrol agent told me how they enter their information into their own internal system, without really understanding what occurs afterward.

Once again, these watchlists aren’t the all-seeing eye of Sauron that many believe,” he said. “They’re more similar to the compound eye of a fly, a collection of lenses (over 3,000 in each eye of the common housefly!) that together create a mosaic. This mosaic—the capability to bring together all the separate lists into a single comprehensive view—doesn’t exist yet, according to sources. However, this is the path we’re heading towards, particularly with software solutions like Palantir that can be adapted to compile all the gathered information.
