As per court records, the conflict started when the two individuals confronted a woman from Baltimore regarding her hometown and ethnic background. Upon learning that she had a mixed heritage—her father being Black and Puerto Rican, and her mother Italian—the situation quickly intensified, according to The Evening Sun. Mitchell is said to have stated, “Hanover is a rural communityand that she ‘wasn’t going to make it here.’

A subsequent dispute soon escalated into violence.

The police stated that Mitchell grabbed the woman around her neck and pushed her to the ground, while Tresnak struck her. Throughout the assault, Mitchell used racial insults towards the woman, including the N-word, saying she “didn’t belong here,” “go back to pig town,” and that “this is a Make America Great Again community.”

Clubgoers stepped in to prevent the assault. Upon their arrival, officers recorded significant injuries on the victim, such as bruises near her eye and arm, as well as scratches and grazes that matched her report. Several witnesses confirmed her version of events.

The couple eventually acknowledged a conflict but stated that the victim initiated the attack. The pair is scheduled to appear in court again on February 17.
