The ferocious storm A storm set to hit the East Coast over the weekend is predicted to cause extremely cold weather in Miami for the first time in about 15 years.

Intimidating predictions suggest that another storm is forming, battering millions of Americans with snow and ice for the second consecutive weekend after Winter Storm Fern.

Meteorological models indicate that a strong weather system is expected to develop near the Carolinas on Saturday morning, subsequently advancing into the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions on Sunday.

The storm’s pressure is expected to increase quickly, creating a ‘Arctic storm,’ formally referred to as a bomb cyclone.

The approaching Arctic cold wave could be so severe that temperatures in Miami are expected to fall sharply from the pleasant mid-60s that the city in the Sunshine State has been experiencing lately.

Miami temperatures are predicted to drop into the 30s during Sunday morning. The previous occurrence of such weather in the region was in December 2010.

In December, it was labeled as the coldest ever recorded in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Key West.

South Florida also faced a record-breaking 12-day cold period in January 2010, characterized by extremely harsh temperatures.

‘WOW – Miami dropping into the 30s!?’ Georgia-based AMHQ meteorologist Jordan Steele posted on X.

The most recent time Miami experienced temperatures below 40 degrees was in 2010. This upcoming cold spell is definitely going to cause those iguanas to drop.

Fort Lauderdale and Tampa are expected to experience temperatures in the 30s. Residents of Tampa should prepare for minimums in the 20s.

Temperatures are projected to drop close to freezing on Sunday morning throughout large areas of the nation, such as regions in the South, Midwest, Northern Plains, and Northeast, raising the danger of hypothermia or frostbite.

Meteorologist Ryan Hall, known as “The Internet’s Weather Man,” cautioned that a bomb cyclone will form in the Atlantic this week and rotate like a tropical storm.

That’s essentially a hurricane,” Hall stated on Tuesday. “Anyone who ends up on the western side of that in the cold region is going to be hit hard with snow.

Although Hall warned that it was still too soon to determine if the storm would hit land this weekend and bring as much as a foot of snow to certain regions, the meteorologist was confident that the dangerously low temperatures this week would increase.

“A second cold snap will move around the edge of this low-pressure system, likely the strongest so far this year, and it will cause temperatures to drop 30 degrees below normal,” warned the meteorologist.

The approaching weather system has been named ‘Winter Storm Gianna’ byThe Weather Channel

The prediction system highlighted that there are ‘significant uncertainties’ regarding the storm, with further details expected as the weekend draws near.

Winter Storm Giana follows in the wake of the historic Winter Storm Fern, whichresulted in at least 44 deaths and impacted 34 states throughout the United States.

The dangerous weather started hitting areas in the South and the Plains on Friday, causing ice, sleet, and snow, as the 2,000-mile storm moved eastward through Sunday night.

On Monday, wind chill temperatures of approximately 30 degrees below zero were recorded in several U.S. states, such as Ohio, Nebraska, and Minnesota.

By Wednesday, approximately 69 million individuals are still under conditions of cold weather warnings.
