Andriy Korshunov, 80, and his Rottweiler lost their lives during a nighttime stroll in Sherman Oaks on Tuesday when an unknown Maserati driver struck them in a hit-and-run incident and left the vehicle nearby, as reported.KTLA News.

The man was taken to the hospital and declared dead soon after, while his dog was found dead under a nearby parked vehicle.

No arrests have been made, so authorities are providing a $50,000 reward for details that result in the driver’s identification, arrest, and prosecution, as reported by theLos Angeles Times.

The fatal accident took place approximately 11:30pm on the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue, where Korshunov and his dog were walking a brief distance from his residence.

As they approached the intersection of Moorpark Street while cycling, a silver sports car traveling north hit the victim and his dog, resulting in the death of the Rottweiler, which was discovered under a parked vehicle at the roadside.

It is still uncertain if the couple was in the process of crossing the road when the deadly accident occurred, or if the Maserati had veered onto the sidewalk prior to hitting them.

The Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene following reports of the hit-and-run, quickly administering CPR to Korshunov on the spot while relatives wept nearby.

The deceased was recognized by his daughter, who mentioned that he arrived in the United States a few years back following his survival of the conflict in Ukraine, as reported by KTLA 5.

Firefighters quickly transported Korshunov to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after, as officials initiated an inquiry.

Law enforcement concluded that the driver paused briefly following the collision with the man and his dog but stayed within the high-end vehicle, according to the source.

The driver then headed further north without pausing and finally left the Maserati by the side of the road in the nearby area.

Authorities were informed that the four-door vehicle had passengers along with the driver, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Eyewitnesses managed to capture images of the suspect’s car when it paused briefly, and they supplied law enforcement with a detailed account, including the front-end and windshield damage caused by the crash.

Law enforcement eventually located the Maserati a few blocks away and found significant front-end damage, along with missing license plates on both sides.

The damaged car was placed under police control, yet authorities have not been able to locate any California license plates and suspect it might have been registered in another state at some time, as reported by the source.
